# Lifecycle Fund

A lifecycle fund is a type of fund that Transamerica offers, often as a default investment.

Lifecycle funds are based on retirement date, rather than any specific type of investment. If you plan to retire in 2040, you are best served to invest in the 2040 lifecycle fund. 

Lifecycle funds operate on the premise of risk. The further out your retirement date is, the most risk will be taken on for higher reward, as you get closer to your retirement date, more conservative options will be chosen to try and keep your investments safe.
